Welcome to Toadlena/Two Grey Hills Chapter

Toadlena/Two Grey Hills Chapter serves the communities of Toadlena, Blackhouse Mesa, Grey Mesa, Tumble Down House, Cactus Valley, Cold Water Springs, Water Hill and Two Grey Hills Residents. It is located on the eastern foothills of the Chuska Mountains. The community is known throughout the world for the famous "Two Grey Hills" style of Navajo hand-woven rugs. The legends say that "Spider Woman" taught the Navajos to weave and she is traditionally from the Two Grey Hills area. The two hills is located about 5 mile east of the Chapter House, which is customarily thought of as her home.

The Two Grey Hills Chapter conducts meetings monthly to keep residents informed; residents have a forum to express their opinions to their Navajo Nation Council Delegate or to decide on matters concerning the Chapter.
"Two Grey Hills" Navajo rugs have combination of natural wools that produces varying shades of browns, greys and blacks. The brown and black wool is mixed with white wool to create these subtle shades. People within the Two Grey Hills Chapter raise their own sheep, which alway include brown and black sheep. The wool is often hand carded and hand spun and the weave of the rugs is very fine and very tight. The rugs have elaborate borders and intricate designs.
